MSNBC anchor Katy Tur is facing demands to be immediately fired after claiming President Trump plans to use the shooting of Charlie Kirk “as justification for something.”
MSNBC host Katy Tur could not help but call Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk a “divisive figure” right after he got shot during a Wednesday segment.
A bullet hit Kirk in the neck during an Q&A session at Utah Valley University on Wednesday afternoon as he reportedly spoke about gun violence committed by transgender people. As Kirk fought for his life in the hospital, Tur had to make the segment political by talking about Kirk’s connection to the MAGA movement.
“Charlie Kirk is a divisive figure, polarizing, lightning rod, whatever term you want to use,” Tur said.
“Well he’s one of MAGA’s most prominent voices online. He hosts a daily podcast. He opines on almost everything. He’s been very closely aligned with [President Donald Trump] in 2015, 2016 and his ties to Trump really elevated his own brand,” NBC News politics reporter Allan Smith. “He was really quite young as an activist when president launched his own campaign and he is kind of ridden along with MAGA since 2016 and built up a massive, massive brand of his own.”FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency is “closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting” and that “agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”
President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance called on everyone to “pray” for Kirk.
“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!” Trump wrote on TruthSocial.
